You may be wondering what exactly I'll be doing in Kenya. My time will be spent consulting with patients at a local hospital that lacks an occupational therapy department. I will be working closely with special needs patients in a residential care center, and may even have opportunities to assist at clinics and schools where there are a small number of children who have special needs, including autism, cerebral palsy, and sensory integration dysfunctions. My role as an intern will be to help assess patients and offer guidance to help improve their cognitive, physical, or motor skills. Stay tuned friends...
