Attention all volunteers in Cape Town for 6 December 2011: I introduce you to the Twilight Team Run! This annual event, hosted by the Western Cape-based Community Chest, is in its 29th year and currently has 20 000 people busy planning what weird outfits to wear as they prepare to run, walk, skip and dance through the city’s streets for a good cause. While participants are welcome go at their own pace - you should know that prizes are awarded for best dressed rather than fastest runner.
“The Twilight Team Run is much more than just a fun fundraising event, it’s community philanthropy in action with Capetonians coming out en mass to offer a helping hand to their fellow citizens,” says Amelia Jones, Community Chest CEO.
One of the most anticipated annual events on the Mother City’s calendar as it brings with it an evening filled with fun, excitement and great entertainment.
Start and Finish at the Grand Parade Best dressed competition starts at 17:00 and the race kicks off at 19:00
"All the money raised goes to the Community Chest which supports some 400 social development agencies across 10 sectors. These include providing care to children, families, the elderly, homeless, physically and mentally challenged, people living with HIV/AIDS as well as supporting rehabilitation and community development projects. In some rural areas these Community Chest beneficiaries are the only service providers." - http://www.twilightrun.co.za/
