POSADAS (CHRISTMAS PARTIES)
A posada Is a mexican catholic christmas tradition during which Mexican people pray nine rosaries, from the 16th till the 25th of december(day we celebrate JesusChrist's birth). Every rosary is celebrated daily in a different house around the neighborhood; Usually the host has to prepare a tipical drink called Ponche that is basically a hot fruit cocktail.
After the rosary, all people light up a candle and start singing a christmas carol. This carol is sung by half the guests singing outside by the door
and the other half from inside the house, this portrays the story of Joseph and Mary (parents of Christ) when they were asking for asylum to deliver her baby.
The Posadas are truly Mexican traditions....Live our traditions... Live Mexico!
