Hello everyone!

I just came back from the Turtle camp where the activities for our 2 week special programme is taking place. It was a great trip in which I had the chance to spend a really fun time with the guys who are taking part of this project.

As part of the activities in the 2 weeks programme we arranged a trip to the beautiful town of Melaque, a beach destination that is located in the state of Jalisco! We packed our bags and we had a good time, really nice food, good climate and an amazing beach just two steps away from our hotel!

More pictures are on the way so keep an eye on this blog!!!

Hello again!!! The summer is here bringing a lot of heat and some rain too in Mexico! It has been also really busy in Projects Abroad Mexico as we have started the second season for the 2Weeks Special Programme.

The 2 weeks special programme is based in Campamento Tecoman. During two weeks, volunteers are involved in an intensive Spanish course and are part of the turtle conservation activities.

I want to share a video in which Alessandro Gazzoni speaks about his experience in the conservation project. He focuses more in the activities done in the crocodile farm this time.

I hope you enjoy the video!

Archaeology- A visit to the circular pyramids!   (published in Mexico)

July 13, 2010 by   Comments (0)

The day came and everyone was ready to go! A nice trip to the circular pyramids called 'Guachimontones'! This pyramids are really important in the area and it is one of the most important archeology sites in the country. These pyramids are more than 2000 years old!

The Guachimontones were very important ceremonial centres. Build one circle above the other until reaching the final height. They included a pole in the middle used for dancers to perform on top of them. People were not used to live there but they used to celebrate Equinox and Solstice as the major festivities of the year!

Everyone had a good time, we had the chance to watch a video documentary and a visit to the museum! After that we went straight to the pyramids area.

After a nice lunch with everyone we came back to Guadalajara! I really enjoyed of this trip, and I hope everyone did as much as I did!

Thanks to everyone who joined!

Looking forward to the next trip!

I want to start this blog by saying that it has been a great season in Ciudad Guzman for Journalists. A great pleasure we had in Projects Abroad was to hear about the successful programme of Mr. Alberto Carniel, from Italy.

He was enrolled in the journalism project. He came here for a period of 2 months but he ended up doing 3 months plus 4 days! This week Alberto says 'Adios amigos' (goodbye my friends) having completed what it was for him a great experience.

A really important thing he achieved during his time in Cd. Guzman was the publication of his book 'A la sombra del diario' with the support of the local government he made it come true! In this publication he talks about the environmental problems that Mexico and Italy face, similarities and possible solutions!

Wait to hear directly from him very soon in this blog!!!Meanwhile...Thanks Alberto for your great enthusiasm and successful time in Mexico!
