Day 2   (published in Peru)

June 16, 2012 by

Hola! I am feeling much better today. Yesterday I was very lathargic and slept most of the day. I guess the combination of 17 hours of flying with lost luggage and altitude change really got to me. My host mother gave me tea de coco which helped a lot. Urubamba is an hour outside of Cusco. Urubamba is small and under a lot of construction. The roads are bumpy and the buildings are old. It is an interesting place.

The family I am staying with has three young girls. My host mother is super busy. If she is not cooking, cleaning, she is running the family business, which is the pizzaria below the living quarters. Just watching her is making me tired! Today we went to the market to buy potatos and other vegetables. The main food here are potatos and they are served at most every meal (so much for losing weight :(

I start my placement at my school on Monday. I am a bit nervous because I have to take the bus and walk.I hope I don´t get lost!

Traveling alone has definatley been a new experiance for me. Usually when things happen you turn to who you are with and laugh or share fustration however when you are alone you can´t do that. This new experiance has been challenging but also interesting because I am learning a lot about myself and about what I can handle. We will see how the bus ride goes.

Untill next time...

Almost Time to Go...   (published in Peru)

With less than 24 hours to board my flight I am filled with various emotions. I am excited, nervous, etc. I think the hardest thing for me is not knowing what to expect. Will I get lost? Will things be a piece of cake? What is the weather like? I see on the forcast that it is hot, yet all people can say is to dress warm becuase it will be cold. Which one is it?? awwwwwww the suspense is killing me!! As of now the biggest fear I have is losing my luggage...urghhh I should not even put that out in the universe (delete, delete :) gone!

Ok well for those of you travling out to Peru soon, I wish you a safe trip!

Peace,

Andrea
